Croakers

Many Large croakers between 12" and 19" have shown up around the Wachapreague inlet. This is the time to fill the freezer . The flounder are still here but getting a keeper is a tough chore.

Offshore between hurricanes

Few anglers went offshore this week but the ones that did had action from marlin, false albacore and dolphin. Check out Don's tackle shop for further fishing information.

Wachapreague Report

Fishing off shore has been slow for tuna, mahi and wahoo. The marlin have been very active, many boats have released blues and whites. The croaker are thick which has anglers searching for the tarpon. Shark fishing has been good in the inlets.

Off shore Action

Off shore has many fisherman frustrated with the dirty water. Talking with the charter captains, they said this happened last year and will clear up after a good north eastern or south eastern storm passes through. In the Washington canyon white marlin and mahi were caught this past weekend. The water in the canyon was beautiful and one boat reported multiple whale sitings.

1st annual Thomas Lee Hart Tournament

The tournament has begun with the food bank receiving donations of fresh flounder and croaker. The top team, headed up by Don Forbes donated 75 lb of croaker. Matt Hart has donated 6.2lb of flounder. This tournament is a benefit for the food banks of the eastern shore.

Croakers

The croakers have made their way to the Wachapreague waters. Many anglers have released or kept as many as they could handle.

Off shore Action

The action off shore has been exciting with white marlin, yellowfin and mahi- mahi. The water has not been the clearest we have seen this year but fish are still biting. The eastern shore has been showcased through the Ocean City white marlin open with record blue marlin and white marlin catches.

Flounder on the artificial reefs

This week many flounder were put in the cooler up to 7 1/2 lbs from the artificial reef system off of Wachapreague. Gulp and squid strips are the best baits. NITA DREAM charters kept 15 flounder ranging from 19 " to 25". Two private boats had catches of 12 keepers and 5 keepers while releasing many others.
Nita Dream Charters can be hired by calling the Wachapreague Inn.
