The two houses with apartments have received a FEMA grant to raise them 4 feet up. We will be putting new bathrooms, flooring, paint, heating and a/c. They started raising Jan. 13. Plan to be completed by April 1. No fooling.

Marlin Magic Stripers

Marlin Magic Charters has found the stripers in the ocean. Two trips have this week gave the crew all the rockfish they could handle. The water was alive with gannets diving, menhaden popping and stripers showing up all over the water column. The largest was a 48" 47 lb. There didn't seem to be any fish under 30". Trolling tandem jigs produced alot of double headers.

Striper Fever

The Rockfish have arrived along the barrier islands and in the lower bay. Fishermen are coming from all over to have their chance at catching a trophy rock. The strongest concentration is around the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel and north to Cape Charles. Stripers have been caught out of Wachapreague but not in big numbers. Commercial fisherman are netting real beauties out of Wachapreague since early December.

Stripers are here

Stripers are here in the Wachapreague Inlet. Reports of rockfish in the 40" to 50" range have been caught on eels. Charters are available. Don't let this fishing opportunity pass you by.
Wachapreague Inn rates are only $59.00 a night.

Good time to try a little surf and turf. Duck hunting in the morning and striper in the evening.
